Maya is 8 years old and has Cerebral Palsy, Erbs Palsy, and hypotonia.
Since she was 3 years old, Maya has been taking riding lessons at UpReach Equestrian Center. This has been huge for her therapy and allowed progress to the point where she no longer needs braces for her legs. Maya’s love for animals has also grown through this relationship.
High Hopes is happy to announce that we will be able to provide Maya with a summer riding camp Experience at Mack Hill Riding Academy. Where she’ll be able to ride twice a day for a full week and live the dream of being barn kid.
“I don’t know if you could hear the squeals from our car as we loaded up Maya and all of her goodies. Somehow, Maya kept her excitement contained until we got into the car. She laughed and giggled the entire way home. As soon as we got inside Maya started to unpack. Each item she inspected and then offered an explanation of what it was.
Thank you so much for helping to make this experience fabulous so far. It sure was great to ask Maya to take her meds and not get an argument tonight.”
Thank you again from all of us.
Jeanette, Steve, Ilana and Maya.
Update on Maya (July 2015)
“I can’t begin to tell you how much fun Maya is having this week. She is so proud of herself that she is with the older kids that are “more experienced” and she and Ilana are in a group together. The reports we have been getting from Gabe, the instructor, is that Maya is talking a lot and described her as a “chatter box!!! Maya? she hardly speaks a word at school…”
